Washington Park is located in South Los Angeles. This 13.2-acre facility is built on land that formerly housed a large lumber yard. It is named after Colonel Leon H. Washington, a leader and independent thinker who founded the newspaper, The Eastside Shopper, which is now known as The Sentinel, one of the most respected newspapers in California.
