The “Devil’s Punchbowl” is one of the most spectacular geologic formations in California. Opened in December of 1963, the Punchbowl consists of 1,310 acres of rugged wilderness and rock formations that include the “Devil’s Chair,” a 250 foot drop-off and great panoramic views, that require a 7.5 mile round trip hike. The Nature Center has many live and static displays and naturalists are on duty from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to answer any questions about the Devil’s Punchbowl and its wildlife. Geology, natural beauty and the longing for adventure provide a rewarding visit and hike at the Devil’s Punchbowl Natural Area.
