This 7.33 acre park was developed on land purchased from the Joshua Reed Giddings Family in 1954, dedicated that same year. This park serves as a place, as dedicated by The Kiwanis Club, “For the Protection of Wildlife.”
Dedicated as Loma Alta Park in 1954, later renamed the Clarence H. Thurber Park and Giddings Memorial Picnic Area in 1959, and in 1960, renamed Loma Alta Park. Featuring the Dr. Clarence H. Thurber Community Building and the Giddings Grove Picnic Area.
