In 1959, George and Olga Lane donated 9 acres of their alfalfa farm to create a park to be enjoyed by the people and future generations. To date, this treasure is the only park in the Quartz Hill area.

Mr. Lane, a transplanted New Jerseyite, and his new wife, Olga, of Calabasas met when George arrived from New Jersey and checked into the Western Hotel in Lancaster where Olga worked. After their marriage, they moved to Quartz Hill where they farmed and ran a freight and hauling company. George was quite famous in the area for his twenty mule teams, which he used for farming, hauling and hiring out. These mule teams were instrumental in hauling pipes and materials from the Owens Valley to build the Los Angeles City Aqueduct.

George Lane Park was erected in 1961 and has become home to many events, including the Almond Blossom Festival.
