Driving Directions

Charles White Park was dedicated on October 25, 1980. The Altadenian Newspaper held a contest to name the new park and, by a community vote, the name was chosen. Charles White was a nationally famous African-American artist who served as Chairman of the Drawing Department at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles in the 1960’s and 1970’s. He actively supported and exhibited his work at many of the outdoor art festivals, gaining credibility and community recognition for many of the African-American artists of the Altadena area. This 5-acre park contains eight oak and 60 shade trees.
