Charles White Park was dedicated on October 29, 1990, the Altadenian Newspaper held a contest to name the new park and subsequently voted on by the community chose Charles White, a nationally famous black artist who served as Chair of the Drawing Department of the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles in the 1960’s and 70’s. He actively supported and exhibited his work at many of the Outdoor Art Festivals, gaining credibility and community recognition for many of the black artist of the Altadena area. The park consists of 5 acres of parkland with eight oak and sixty shade trees.
