Originally named Southeast Valinda Park, the name was changed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in 1975 to “Sunshine Park.” The new name came from a contest. The winner, a first grader, named the park “Sunshine” because it sounded cheery. The park is a reflection of its name. The nice facility radiates warmth and the variety of programs make it a very lively place.
